A couple of months ago I was at the mall and I strolled into a store that caters to all things New Age, if you will. Front and center was this book/DVD set and the wacky sales girl wouldn't shut up about how "glorious" it was and how it offered the world a whole new kind of hope. I was intrigued for about 2.6 seconds until my gut was able to catch up to my brain. It shouted "Bullshit Alert! ** beeeeeeep ** WARNING! WARNING!" I obeyed and I walked out of the store with a $10 pair of Celtic earrings instead.

Not long after that Oprah did a show about it. My response: "God love her but the woman has finally jumped the shark."

Then I got the book as a birthday present from a good friend so I cast aside my doubts and started reading it. She was totally on target for my taste in gifts as I enjoy reading about different ways to view the world and so on. However, after reading a few "chapters" or whatever they were, I realized I was right the first time I came across it in that store. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.

Can someone please tell me why this was passed, let alone considered a good idea:
House passes motion recognizing Québécois as nation

I'm so mad at Harper I could just puke.

I am on the high school reunion planning committee and we're trying to round up as many local classmates as possible for our 15 year reunion July 28 - July 30.

If you do know anyone, please tell them about our reunion site. Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Not because I suddenly support you or your ridiculous red-neck party (I do support cleaning up Canada-USA relations but only because I live state-side) but because my party of choice has FUBAR'd itself right into the ground. With Assclown Martin out of the picture (smartest thing he's done in years), it's time for some fresh hands to take over the reins and rebuild. And then in two years (or less - a girl can hope) when you Tories fail to win a no-confidence vote and you've sufficiently pissed off Canadians with your ignorant ways, the Liberals will be primed to kick your ass and take back a majority.

Now had you won a majority government, I would indeed be shitting my pants and crying for my mommy.

As a Canadian living in the USA, I am actually NERVOUS about the election today. I get to sit on the sidelines for this one since being a non-resident alien barely entitles me to breathe the air here. I don't know if any of you are South Park fans, but the latest episode parodied today to a tee - time to vote for either the Giant Douche or the Turd Sandwich, or get a cap in your ass by a celebrity "I'm famous therefore I must know what I'm talking about" political activist. Team America, anyone? If you haven't seen it, go. I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in years (and it explains the title of this article).

As a former member of the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax, I was so damn proud as I watched Mark Dacey claw his way back from a 4-point deficit to beat Randy Ferbey's powerhouse team. For curling dorks such as myself, it was one of the best games ever!

Now Canada is going to be represented at the Worlds this year by two Nova Scotia teams, both from Mayflower. Colleen "The Gum Chomper" Jones (why oh why hasn't the CBC canned her butt already?) and her team are Team Canada again for the...I dunno...fifth time? I've lost count. For once, the East Coasters have beat out the Ontarios and Albertas as NB and Newfoundland kicked ass as well. Who cares that Mark Dacey is from Saskatoon - he's ours now!

Big props to MultiCast Networks for their pay-per-view webcasts. I was like a crack addict getting a much needed fix after a two-year hiatus of curling on TV (Americans living south of Minnesota don't even know what curling is ...maybe I can start a revolution?)

I don't know if the Halifax Herald or Daily News carries Get Fuzzy as one of its regular comics (it started after I moved away in '96) but regardless, this hilarious comic is visiting our fair city and I just had to share.

A little history: a guy named Rob has a dog, Satchel, and a cat, Bucky. The pets talk and the trio live in Chicago, IL (I think) where Rob works in advertising. Satchel recently found out he was part NS Duck Tolling Retriever and was born in Cheticamp, NS. Today is the first day of their NS visit and the "American tourists" jokes have already begun. Check this link daily to follow their visit.

The "liberalness scale" has tipped yet again in the USA's favour with this recent tidbit of news. While I do believe that Gender Identity Disorder is a real affliction, I have a hard time being sympathetic towards a convicted murderer serving a life sentence. It's one thing for a diabetic inmate to require hormone therapy (as in insulin) to stay alive but it's not like this guy is going to croak if he doesn't get estrogen, a boob job and "genital reassignment" at the NY taxpayer's expense. Unless his affliction played some part in the murder he committed, I don't understand how denying him such an extravagant procedure is cruel and unusual punishment.
